Patch timeline

  1. 6.0.2
    14 Oct 2014

    The Iron Tide

    Major release
    • Pre-expansion patch: item squish cuts every stat and damage number to a smaller scale.
    • The Iron Horde invasion runs in Blasted Lands ahead of the 13 November launch.
    • Character models are rebuilt for the original races.
What this means for a buildThe item squish rewrites every item row in the world database. Migration, not a patch.
  2. 6.1.0
    24 Feb 2015

    Garrison update

    • Garrison additions including new buildings, follower content, and the inn.
    • Adds Blasted Lands rebuilt content and heirloom tab storage.
What this means for a buildEvery garrison building is a phase variant with its own object set. The table count grows quickly.
  3. 6.2.0
    23 Jun 2015

    Fury of Hellfire

    Fan favorite
    • Hellfire Citadel opens as the thirteen-boss closing raid of the expansion.
    • Tanaan Jungle opens as a max-level zone with its own daily hub.
    • The shipyard adds naval missions on top of the existing follower system.
What this means for a buildThe shipyard is a second mission system layered on the first. Both keep per-account timers that must survive restarts.
  4. 6.2.2
    1 Sep 2015

    Draenor flying

    • Flying unlocks in Draenor behind a multi-part achievement chain.
    • Adds a mount and a round of encounter tuning.
What this means for a buildAchievement-gated flight means the flight permission is derived state, not a flag you set once.
  5. 6.2.4
    29 Mar 2016

    Final build

    Build targetMajor release
    • Last build of the expansion, released as maintenance ahead of the next pre-patch.
    • Timewalking dungeon events expand across earlier expansions.
What this means for a build6.2.4 is the standard build target. Timewalking scales players down — a scaling path worth testing separately.
